Some answers to popular q’s

WHAT IS YOUR STYLE AND APPROACH TO PHOTOGRAPHING OUR WEDDING?

You can read more about my style and approach to Newcastle and North East wedding photography, here.

DO WE GET A MIX OF BLACK AND WHITE AND COLOUR IMAGES?

Yes, absolutely! I personally edit all of the images and throughout the editing phase, I make a professional decision as to whether the image looks best in colour or in black and white. All of the images are captured in a way that ensures we can always go back and change one of your favourite images if you wish.

DO YOU CAPTURE ALL OF THE DETAILS?

Yes, I believe I have an eye for it. I appreciate that you have put a lot of thought into all the tiny little details for your special day. I try to capture them in context so that it helps you relive them as a treasured memory.

ARE YOU INSURED?

Absolutely. I use professional photography equipment which is fully insured. I also have Public Liability and Indemnity insurance which is usually a requirement from wedding venues. I can provide this upon request.

WHAT IF YOU BECOME ILL AND ARE UNABLE TO ATTEND OUR WEDDING?

I’d take a few painkillers and have a strong coffee to get the day started. I’ve never had to back out of a wedding, but if I had to do this due to being ill, I’m friends with lots of fantastic and professional wedding photographers and you’d have your wedding photographed without question.

HOW SOON AFTER OUR WEDDING DO WE RECEIVE OUR IMAGES?

Your private online gallery will be available around 6 weeks after your wedding date. You will receive an email containing the address link and password for you to view and start sharing on social media or with all your friends and family. After this I will personally deliver your wooden USB trinket box containing all of your images (if you live a outside of the region I will post the box out to you instead).

DO YOU OFFER WEDDING ALBUMS?

I have sourced the highest quality wedding albums and offer absolutely stunning Fine Art Leather Albums which come in 2 sizes: 10×10 and 12×12.

DO YOU OFFER PRE-WEDDING ENGAGEMENT SHOOTS?

Yes, I do. I think a pre-wedding shoot really helps you get used to being in front of the camera, if you’re slightly camera shy. It’s a very fun and relaxed shoot and there’s no pressure. We can head off to your favourite spot and if you have children, they can come along too to make it more of a family experience. These shoots are £100 and they last around an hour or so.

DO YOU TRAVEL/WHERE DOES YOUR PHOTOGRAPHY COVER?

I absolutely love to travel! I am based in County Durham and cover every area of the UK and I’m also available for destination weddings as well. Travel in the North East is included in the price but if you require me to travel further, please contact me for a more bespoke quote.

WHAT IF WE AREN’T VERY CONFIDENT IN FRONT OF THE CAMERA AND DON’T WANT TO FEEL LIKE WE’RE BEING POSED?

Firstly, that’s absolutely fine and is a lot more common than you might think. I personally don’t like overly-posed or false reactions in photography either. I like to stay back and see how things unfold, which allows the images to have a much more candid and natural feel to them. During couple portraits, the position I take is to provide a little direction, such as asking you to stand in a certain spot or show you some relaxed and subtle poses. This will really put you at ease and allow you to react naturally. You can see some of the beautiful North East wedding photography I’ve captured, here.

DO YOU TAKE TRADITIONAL FAMILY PORTRAIT PHOTOS ON MY WEDDING DAY?

Yes I certainly do. It’s not very often you get to see all of your closest family and friends on the same day and especially all together, so I understand how important it is capture this. This part of the day can be a little chaotic and eat away into the time, so I like to keep this part of the day short and informal. I recommend no more than 10 group set-ups which should take around 30 minutes. This means we can capture everything required and instead of you getting a little stressed over the photos, you get to spend as much time as possible enjoying the day.

HOW MANY PHOTOS WILL WE RECEIVE?

It’s impossible to predict a specific number of images, or guarantee we’ll receive a certain amount, but if your wedding follows the traditional layout of a wedding, you’ll receive around 300-400 images with the Full Day Package and somewhere between 200-300 with the Half Day Package.

WE’RE READY TO GO AHEAD! WHAT SHALL WE DO NEXT?

That’s fantastic, I’m really pleased you’ve decided to have me as part of your wedding. I can’t wait to hear more about your plans. The first thing would be to make an enquiry with me by using the contact page. To secure your wedding date, you’ll simply need to pay the booking fee and fill in a booking form. Once this is done, you can also view and sign the contract online, it’s a really simple process. We can meet for a coffee or a Skype chat (if you live a little further away) from now until your wedding date, where we can go through the photography timeline for the day, discuss group photo setups etc. If you do decide to go for a pre-wedding photo shoot, we’ll get that booked in as well and discuss a time that works best for us both.
